MudCrew Ltd. (hereafter known as MudCrew) organise the Roseland August Trail (RAT) Race Series. A series of, participant self-sufficient, coastal foot running races along the Cornwall Coastal Path National Footpath Trail in Cornwall, UK. To support the event a race village, at Porthpean Outdoor Education Centre, serves as the location of the event HQ and encompasses the starting and finishing areas, entertainment and trade stands, catering, toilets and showers, parking and weekend camping for participants, their supporters and families. The event itself takes place over the entire weekend running from approx. Friday noon to Sunday noon with the main event taking place on the Saturday. Within the race series there are five distances/courses. 11mile (white), 20mile (red) 32mile (black) 64mile (Plague) and 24 hour event named “Bring Out Your Dead” (BOYD). In the white, red and black distances the participants run a point to point course being bussed to their start location and finishing at the race village. The Plague distance is an out and back route starting and finishing at the race village. The BOYD is a continuous 24hour event which takes place on an approx. 2.5 mile section of the coastpath on an out and back continuous loop from the event village. Approx. 900 runners are expected to take part in the race events and with supporters and marshals approx. 2000 people are involved in some way in the entire event.
