Further information
Hazelbury Hurrah! is a fund raising evening trail running event for local clubs with up to a maximum of 250 runners in the main race, and 125 in the junior event. The 10km main race will start and finish at Leafy Lane Football Pitches, Rudloe where an initial lap will be run to spread runners out before a 600m section of road along Boxfields Road, including crossroads with White Ennox Lane, to the top of Quarry Hill where it will leave the road and enter the woods. The route will then traverse paths and bridleways around Hazelbury Manor before returning to road for 750m along The Ley at Box and up Hazelbury Hill. Further paths and tracks lead to a double road crossing at the top of Quarry Hill Road. The final section of road is 500m along White Ennox Lane and passing Love Lane junction. Marshals and warning signs will be used extensively along the route. Marshals will control runners crossing roads and be instructed not to stop / control traffic. The event has been run four times since 2018 with no issues. Following a change to footpath access arrangements near the start of the race, the route was changed in 2022 to avoid a potential bottleneck of runners building up and spilling back onto road at a bend. This worked well and that amended route will be used in 2023. The junior race of 2km will be entirely off-road, using a tw lap route around the playing fields and adjacent woods.
