British Trail Running Championships

The Trail Running Association is responsible for the selection and promotion of the British Trail Running Championships, working directly UK Athletics.

The Championships are held annually over three distances:

Short: Races up to 45km
Middle: Races between 45km and 90km
Long: Races over 90km 

British Trail Running Championships 2027

Short Distance
Forest of Dean Spring Half Marathon
21st March 2027

An annual event is organised by The Rotary Club of the Royal Forest of Dean and supported by the Forestry Commission. A half marathon route over beautiful rolling trails on a super fast course.

Middle Distance
Scafell Sky Ultra
5th June 2027

This is the race route to equal the best mountain ultras in the world, right in the heart of the English Lake District. A marked course, with a 15 hour cut off - this 63km route features 4400m of climb over the most spectacular ground in the country. This race also acts as the Trials for GB&NI Selection for the 2027 World Mountain and Trail Running Championships Team. Full details around the selection policy can be found on the UKA website here.

Ultra Distance
South Downs Way 100
12th-13th June 2027

The fifteenth edition of this event organised by Centurion Running and taking in almost the entire of the South Downs Way National Trail in under 30 hours. Starting in Matterley Bowl near Winchester, the route is a point to point course of 100 miles with 3500m of climbing.

Grants & Award

First, second and third place in both the womens and mens events will be awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze British Athletics Medals.

Age Group prizes are awarded in five year categories from V35 all the way up to V80+.

Gold, silver and bronze medals are awarded to runners in each age category.

Grants are available to the first male and female runners in each of the championship races who are TRA members at the time of the event.
